My Philosophy
I like to think that I started my medical career in the summer of 2008, when I began working at a vitamin company as a wash boy. From there, I started manufacturing vitamins and became fascinated with pharmaceuticals and medicine. I am proud to say I followed my dream and am now able to provide mental health services for my community. From certified nursing assistant to Doctorate of Nursing practice; I have worked with several clients throughout various stages of life and know that Psychiatry is my calling. See you soon!
My Experience
I take pride in my work and provide unique personalized care to achieve the goals of my patients. My focus is to start with a holistic non-pharmacological approach to care. I prefer to use the safest and most cost effective treatments first, followed by psychotropics as clinically indicated. In many cases, psychotropic medication may greatly reduce symptoms and improve quality of life. I also use motivational interviewing to ensure I provide patient specific care with an underpinning in evidence-based practice.
I have extensive training and experience working with underserved populations (SMI) in Phoenix, Tucson, and Mesa Arizona. I believe mental health care is a right and am constantly working to decrease mental health stigmas.
I was a fellow in the ASU Interdisciplinary Training Academy which focused on the opioid epidemic, effective ways to care for people who use drugs, and resources for people and families impacted by addiction.
I was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico, am fluent in Spanish and bring cultural competence to my care. It is my pleasure to help and work with you to improve your overall health.
